VALERIE PEREA, LIEUTENANT COLONEL, US ARMY (RET) was featured in an article in 1989 entitled "Lt. Col. Valerie Perea, VII Corps highest ranking woman stood her ground". Then her picture made the cover of the Army Times on May 4, 1992, with the caption: "Hitting The Boards Quotas, glass ceilings and promotions, Lt. Col. Valerie Perea plans to sue the Army for sex discrimination". Perea is no shrinking violet, and her book names names and tells the story of what life was like in the early 60s and 70s when women were not traditionally in men's roles. She lives in Reno, Nevada and loves to discuss her career.
